Procedures and Competition Repertoire

Preliminary pieces (Piano Accompaniment Required): contestants are required to choose the 1st movement plus cadenza from one of the following concerti.

K. 216 (Mozart Concerto No. 3, K. 216)
K. 218 (Mozart Concerto No. 4, K. 218)
K. 219 (Mozart Concerto No. 5, K. 219

Semi-final pieces: contestants are required to play one of the following two pieces:

Beethoven concerto Op. 61, 1st movement plus cadenza Kreisler (Allegro ma non troppo). (Piano Accompaniment Required)
Bach, Sonata No. 1 for solo violin, G minor, BMV 1001, Fuga

Final pieces:

i. Contestants are required to choose from below one of Paganini’s Caprices.
- B minor No. 2
- A minor No. 5
- C major No. 11
- E minor No. 15
- C major No. 18
- A major No. 21

ii. Contestants are required to choose from below one of the two pieces by Wieniawski (Piano Accompaniment Required).
- Scherzo-tarantelle, Op. 16
- Polonaise No. 1, Op. 4, D major

Eligibilities

All students or teachers from professional performing arts academies and every violinist who has reached a professional level may sign up for the competition, provided they are 13 years of age or older.
Only Chinese or Chinese descendants are accepted in this competition.
Eligibilities: The Panel of Judges will examine all application materials before mailing the invitation by the Organization Committee to all eligible contestants, who will in turn obtain their visas to USA and register with the Committee.

One Gold Award will receive (US$10,000);
One Silver Award will receive(US$3,000);
One Bronze Award will receive (US$1,000);
One “Rising Star” Award will receive an exquisite hand-made violin from a renowned Asian violin maker;
A number of outstanding performance awards.
