Procedures and Competition Repertoire

Preliminary pieces (Piano Accompaniment Required): contestants are required to choose the 1st movement plus cadenza from one of the following concerti.
  • K. 216 (Mozart Concerto No.3, G Major, K.216)
  • K. 218 (Mozart Concerto No.4, D Major, K.218)
  • K. 219 (Mozart Concerto No.5, A Major, K.219)
Semi-final pieces:
i. Contestants are required to play one of the following pieces:
- Beethoven Romance No.1, G Major, Op.40
- Beethoven Romance No.2, F Major, Op.50
AND,
- Bach, Unaccompanied Sonata No. 2, A Minor, BWV 1003, Fugue
Final pieces:
i. Contestants are required to choose from below one of Paganini’s Caprices:
- No.11, C Major
- No.15, E Minor
- No.19, E Flat Major
AND,
ii. Liang Shan Po and Zhu Ying Tai (Butterfly Lovers) Violin Concerto, by Ho Zhan Hao & Chen Kang, arranged by Guan Sheng You (original version, piano accompaniment required).

Eligibilities

  1. All students or teachers from professional performing arts academies and every violinist who has reached a professional level may sign up for the competition, provided they are 16 years of age or older.
  2. Only Chinese or Chinese descendants are accepted in this competition.
  3. Eligibilities: The Panel of Judges will examine all application materials before mailing the invitation by the Organization Committee to all eligible contestants, who will in turn obtain their visas to USA and register with the Committee.

 

  • One Gold Award will receive either US$10,000 or a hand-made violin from a renowned Asian luthier (select one only);
  • One Silver Award will receive(US$3,000);
  • One Bronze Award will receive (US$1,000);
  • A number of outstanding performance awards.
